The Protestant Student Community (esg) Würzburg is a church house with meeting and event rooms for students of all faculties, nationalities and interests. A chapel is located in the basement of the building in the city center. Its outdated appearance and design calls for change and updating. What can a sacred space for students look like today? What design do young people associate with religious content? In a team with Lukas Henneberger, possible scenarios were developed.
A chapel bench with altar was also developed especially for this purpose.
The Vokal Bank is a piece of seating furniture made of spruce wood. The bench has two finger holes that allow easy and safe carrying. Through
special construction, the furniture is also stackable. The bench consists of a total of eight wooden parts of equal thickness. In structure and shape it is based on sturdy work trestles.
